Holiday Pet Travel Tips

You’re likely to do some traveling during the holidays, and if you have pets, then you probably want to bring them with you wherever you are going. Or you may just want to leave them with a family member or find a good place that you trust to board them. But if you will be traveling with your pets, make sure you use these tips to help you during this busy holiday season.

GET A GOOD PET CRATE OR CARRIER

If you are going to be traveling, you likely want to have a good pet crate or carrier to help you get your pet from place to place. If you are traveling by plane, this is going to be something that is required. Make sure you get a quality one that offers safety as well as security for your pet.

CHECK HOTEL OR AIRLINE POLICIES

Depending on where you are staying, you want to make sure that you are following all of the policies in place. If you are flying, check with the airline to make sure you do everything that’s required. If you are staying in a hotel, make sure pets are allowed, and inform the hotel management that you will be bringing your pet during your stay. If you will be staying with a friend or family members, you also want to make sure they know that you’re bringing your pet, and make sure to ask their permission ahead of time.

BRING FOOD AND WATER

During the trip, you want to have food and water for your pet. You also want to keep things as normal as possible, so you should bring the right pet food that your animal is used to for the trip. You do not want to run the risk of not being able to find their normal pet food at your destination, so take the extra step of bringing it. That way, you’ll have one less thing to worry about.
