Kitterman Woods Residents come out and support your local Fort Pierce Jazz & Blues Society will having a trip down memory lane. Members and supporters of the Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues Society have had a blast setting the time machine backwards and hosting mini class reunions this summer! In July it was a return to the psychedelic 60s with everything from The Stroll to a mini-Beatles invasion. In August, we rewound to the 1970s and learned that nearly everyone knows at least a few of the words to the decade icon I Will Survive, so let’s see how well we do when we crank the time machine back to the 1980s. On Tuesday, September 25th, the Sunrise Black Box Theatre will come alive with the likes of Michael Jackson telling everyone that Billy Jean is not my lover. You can travel back with Bonnie Tyler for a Total Eclipse of the Heart, and if you bring a group of friends, you may just find out if it’s true that Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Along the way, there will be trivia contests, prizes for the best flashback to 1980s fashion (think lots of hair spray and fingerless lace gloves), and a chance to travel back to a time before everyone had a cell phone, laptop computers weren’t even a twinkle in Steve Jobs eyes, and the sound of the AOL logon was brand new and kind of intriguing.
Sure, well still have the classic jazz jam you love for the first hour of the evening as we always do, but on Tuesday, September 25th, we’ll all become Men Without Hats because, we can dance if we want to. We can leave your friends behind. Cause your friends don’t dance, and if they don’t dance, well, they’re no friends of mine.
Even though these are extra special evenings of music, memories, and magic, the cover charge is still only $6 for members and $7 for everyone else. Best of all, your admission price helps cover the costs of scholarships for young, talented musicians hoping to pursue a career in music, like the eight scholarships we gave out just a couple months ago to area students.

Jazz Christmas

On Dec. 2, the Fort Pierce Elks Lodge #1520 will become the scene for hip, cool running jazz and holiday favorites as Jewelia and Sydney Liebman present Jazz Christmas to benefit the VIM/HANDS Clinic of St. Lucie County.

Funds raised go directly to patient care at VIM/HANDS, a non-profit, Volunteers in Medicine clinic serving the medical, dental, vision and mental health care needs of qualified, low-income, adult residents of St. Lucie County.

What better way to kick off the 2017 holiday season than to enjoy a relaxing night dancing to the tunes of Mia Batalini & the Jazzy Boys performing Round Midnight, The Man I Love, Crazy and all the holiday favorites?

During the cocktail hour, enjoy a visit with Santa (It’s okay to be a kid, again), take your chance on some great raffle prizes, and enjoy the music of the Jazzy Boys.

You are invited to become one of only four major sponsors of Jazz Christmas with a donation of $300. Each of the four major sponsors will be entitled to 10 tickets to this first-of-its-kind holiday season opener and a full-page advertisement in the event program. Each sponsor will also be included in all pre-event press release information.

Jazz It Up at Melody Lane

Every year, Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues Society hosts a free blues concert on the waterfront at Melody Lane in beautiful downtown Fort Pierce. They bring a phenomenally talented group or musician down. Come enjoy some quality jazz and blues this Sunday November 19th.

The stage will be up; the equipment will be hauled out, and the musicians will be ready to share an afternoon of professional music that won’t cost you a single penny.

Please make sure to bring your own lawn chair and the leave the bottles and cans at home. There will be delicious food and refreshing drinks available throughout the afternoon. This event will start at 1 p.m. and go until 5 p.m.

They will start off with a little bit of jazz, then take a left turn and bring you a little blues. This year they have a really special musical treat with Dave Scott and the Reckless Shots lighting up the stage starting at 3 p.m. with high-caliber blues-rock and rhythm and blues that will make it impossible for you to stay in your seats. You’ll remember Dave Scott because of his searing guitar and vocals during his tenure with the late, great David Shelley & Bluestone, who packed the house for Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues every time they played.

Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues

It’s easy to relax at Kitterman Woods Apartments! Just a quick drive away, you can listen to the wonderful sounds of the Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues Society indoors at the Gardens every other Wednesday night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Admission is only $5 per person.

The Gardens are open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays).

General admission is $5 (children 12 and under are admitted for free), unless otherwise noted as in the case of this event.
